Grammar Lesson No 1 of Top 10 Lessons What is Singular and Plural Verb? There are some Singular Nouns , for instance, 'a book', 'a boy', 'a stick', and 'a car' etc. are singular common nouns, some are Plural Nouns, for instance,  'books', 'boys', 'sticks', and 'cars' etc. are      Plural Nouns. Rule No. 1 A Singular Verb is used with a  Singular Noun &  Rule No. 2 A Plural verb is used with a Plural Noun , for example: 1. My car runs fast. (here car is a singular noun and runs is a singular verb .  2. My dogs bark at strangers. (here dogs is a plural verb and bark is a plural verb )  3. The dog runs after the cats. (here dog is a singular verb and run is a plural verb )  4. Dogs bark at night. 5. The cat is running after the mouse. Note: This rule is also called Subject-verb Agreement.
